You were very accurate in your request, pay him no mind. The sensor you are looking for and is used to measure the temp of teh incoming air for the eng is one of two places. Since you are EURO and have a 2.0L I5 it might be anywhere. BUT in teh USA most times the 2.3-2.4L I5 has them in the airbox or the airbox intake airstream. OR they can be out behind the center GRILLE in front or to teh side of the coolent radiator. It is not always the best place either one. But It does tend to give a more real world abundent temp to base the fuel and spark advance maps on. My 744 has it in the grille on the right side by the head light. And my 965 has it I saw but am not totally sure on the left near teh air snorkel for teh air box. Hope this helps you narrow it down and find it. It will not be near a extra heat source thou like a fog light. nor will it be I hope, by the A/C lines nor the coolent hoses. Transfer heat/cold would make it useless there.

hi again
yeh just had a look, there is some kind of sensor box just below air snorkle for the airbox, it has two wires on it (a blue/green and a blue/red), it has two vacumm lines running off it and has a small metal sort of nipple sticking out of the right side, would you say thats the one then??
Cheers, Paul.

Without a wiring diag or a schematic fast reply is yes. It seems from what you are saying, that it has all the things it should for that type of sensor. Vac lines are sorta different but yes might be in it as well. If the nipple coming out is more like a probe that could sense ambient temp then ok yes it is that for sure. Might be that it also has a temp sensing vac use. Where the outside temp signals it as well to open and close a vac port for something. Like maybe the cold air shut off for faster warm ups on cold morngs. You are on the right track for sure thou. If that is not it then something very close or in teh area like it is what you seek.

Dude,
I've got a UK Haynes manual for a V70, MY 2000-Apr 2004 . On page 4A6 it says the "inlet air temperature sensor" is "located in the air filter housing cover". For removal it says to " Disconnect the wiring plug from the sensor" and to "Release the clips and remove the sensor from place". Make any sense?
No engine compartment wiring diagrams included in the manual.
