Any point in installing an air/oil separator on an SPA engine (2018 V90, in my case) to help keep the back side of the valves cleaner? Just watched a YouTube video on direct-injection engines in general, and this was one of the things it recommended.

I had started a thread about this some months ago. Both @Gunshow and @Tech have confirmed severe sludge formation on our SPA Engines (Post #3 and Post #11).

Although we also talked about installing catch cans, I have not seen anyone do it on the newer SPA Engines.

Post #9 (@Oceans60R) talks about the updated Purge System on our SPA Engines, which should help alleviate the valve deposit issues.

My take-away from that thread was,

1) Get Induction cleaning performed probably every 40k or 50k miles. I'll be going in for my 40k mile service next week and will probably ask the SA to get the cleaning done.

2) Use CRC Intake Valve cleaner every 10k miles as a Valve sludge maintenance product (@GRUENDIG Post #6).

Here is the entire thread for your reference, https://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?599071-Volvo-Direct-Injection-Engines-and-Oil-Catch-Cans
