My new 2002 V70 had a cover underneath the engine that I removed to do my oil change. Its a little torn up, but can still go back on.
Do you guys put them back on, or leave them off. And is one brand of replacement better than another?
Thanks, Rob

Upgrade that useless piece of plastic to an IPD aluminum skid plate.

It's not useless at all.
Besides the (little bit of) protection it provides, it's called an AIR GUIDE for a reason.
It guides the lower air for better engine cooling and better highway fuel mileage

I recently purchased this one from ipd. It's cheaper than oe which may be way the bolt holes didn't line up perfectly. There was a lot of dinking around just to get a cover on, but JRL is right, they have a purpose

What's interesting is that the R models didn't come with it. Volvo claims it's due to heat but that seems to be unfounded. Probably cost cutting

My V70 didn't have one so I bought an IPD skidplate to keep the underside clean and protected. I've already scraped it on road with a high crown!
