Re: air filter (p0cket penguins)

JR wasn't available at the time, BMC was tested and suggested by Jim Lill and Svenske was selling them (just not paying supplier for them evidently
).

You can't say the air filters are the 'same'. They might do the same thing, but they definately aren't the same.

In the past, some had posted of troubles fitting the air filters in the OEM airbox. We test fit all our BMC air filters in the OEM airbox before shipping them to customers.

I'd recommend upgrading the air filter if you plan on adding additional performance enhancing products to your R.

Re: (George @ ViVA)

I suspect from a pure performance perspective, the BEST filter is NONE!

Which of the filters is best for what it was intended, to filter the intake air to reduce engine wear?

Is there any product data available for a good compromise on air flow versus filtration, and how that might compare to the stock filter?

i just got a BMC wow i notice a diff. in throttle responce and its a little louder intake sound

placebo effect?!?

the static pressure drop across all these filters (including stock) are almost identical, therefore the flow rates aren't going to be that different, and furthermore your "increased throttle response" is in your head

I do believe the louder engine noise from the inlet side..

You guys realize the stock paper filter will out-flow a cotton gauze filter each and every-time in a flow test?

The claim that K&N filters will generate more HP is bunk.

The only advantage a cotton gauze filter will have over a paper filter is it will stay cleaner longer and is reuseable.

M3? NICE! Took my friend down to test drive em a few weeks ago(single guy with a car for winter already... M3 is PERFECT for him). Wow! What a rocket ship... Sex on wheels? hmmmm. I'd say keep the M3, trade in your sex! hehe

Soooo... is there a difference between the BMC and the JR one that IPD is selling?

Also, has anyone gotten theirs from IPD? I see their website states that they are still awaiting delivery on it.

Pretty much all the same- Just pick your favorite color!

Filters are in stock now, and website note updated.

Thanks Sean-

Re: (Scott Hart)

Installed my BMC today.

Not noticably louder.

Not noticably faster.

Glad I was only expecting a good filter.

Glad to finally have a washable, though. I live in a new development under construction and it is DUSTY (you should see my work truck). New filters would have killed me soon!
