Hi Everyone,
My air distribution motor is having some trouble. Hoping to get some input as to how to proceed.
- All electronics in the car are working properly including seat heaters with the exception of a clicking 6 CD changer, and the passenger side mirror heater
- All climate functions are working except switching between the middle (chest) and lower (foot) air directions don't work. Defrost/upper works well, but for the middle and lower vents, most of the air always comes out of the middle vents and a little comes out of the foot vents, and selecting both or one or the other doesn't really make a difference. Seems like not all the air is making it to the vents in these cases.
The code I'm getting in VIDA (and what's reported after running damper calibrations) is: CCM-0071 Damper Position (TP) Faulty position. Pernament fault.
I tried to 'un-jam' the damper motor / flap by calibrating the motors using VIDA. As reported in another thread, doing this repeatedly can help un-jam the motors/flaps. So, I did it about 5 times in a row - most times it reported 87 out of 537 steps, One time it got pretty close to 500 out of 537 steps (and I think it sounded a bit healthier that time, maybe), so I ran the calibration one more time to try to loosen it up a little more and it went back to 87, and subsequent calibrations wouldn't let it budge any more.
I'm thinking that the flap is just jammed and it's more of a mechanical issue, but just curious if anyone has any other thoughts. Ideally solutions that don't require taking the whole dash / climate unit out!!
Thanks!
