Re: After market HID (andrewlim)

Mine haven't had any real issues, and it is the 55w kit from SharpHID. It isn't really the kit, each car seems different so it depends on how your car reacts to it...

I have the 55W kit from SharpHID as well, and it would only work with the Bulb Out Warning canceler. The lights would also flicker if I start the car with the lights in the off (DRL) position, as opposed to the on position.
As AJ said, it seems that each car is different with what works.

carreragt7 and LennyQ,
thanks for your fast reply !
as i am from Asia, my S40 didn't come with DRL, so i really don't know the after effect of installing Sharphid, as most of you here come with DRL, right?
anyway, thanks a lot !

I got the 35W kit with 6000k bulbs. Been working fine and no problems since day 1. I think it's pure luck if they work or ruin your car.

andrew where are u based?>
i have had mixed luck with HID kit. basicaly our cars are very sensitive, so my installer had ot run through a few different kits before he found one that worked..
it worked fine for a while but after a while it developed problems e.g. only one light would come on, i would have to slop restart the car etc for both to come on.
in the end it was just too much hassle, so went back to stock.

Had a HID kit with 6000k bulbs and BOW cancellers and the wiper motor fired the same day I installed them.

I haven't had the wiper motors fried yet, but only had my 55w kit for like few months. Had the 35w kit for about 2 years without wiper motors problem. One of the ballast blew though (prob my fault for leaving lights in on position when I switch on the engine). I have the battery harness but this means there is the "low beam failure" message, as the harness draws very little current, signs of a damaged bulb.

I got the HIDs from a local supplier in Carolina. Got the kit including BOW cancellers. Are you sure SharpHID has been sucessful in S40s that have had problems with the wiper motors before? The warranty for my car is about to expire and I'd rather stay with halogens than to pay $400 for a wiper motor. How long you've had your sharphid kit for? Did you get the 35w kit with the BOW cancellers?
