Hows it going? Been using the search feature and reading about s60r exhaust. What i would really like is a deep throaty sounding exhaust system. From what i understand the Svenske is one of the best sounding exhaust for the s60r correct? and is it a bolt on or weld on? Really lookin for a really nice sounding bolt on so if anyone has experience with this throw me some of your ideas please. ive heard the Evolve and the Heico they sound alright but people say the Svenske sounds really nice but cant always believe what ya hear untill ya see it for yourself. So any recommendations would be greatly appreciated and thanks for past help!
Thanks again
Dee

Re: After market Exhaust reccomendations plz! (tinmoss)

My dads had great success with the evolve exhaust system (sport). Sounds amazing in my opinion, and he has received numerous comments that people can hear his car coming from a block away, and even distinctly tell its a turbo. I know its sold on me as well when I have the money. Every morning when he starts his car to go to work, you can hear the rumble carry through out the house, just sounds clean, flawless. I was also very impressed with it when I was following him to our last Volvo Club Meet. We stopped at a toll booth, and he was in the stall next to my car. Both of us took off out of the toll booth and the sound his car made was just the coolest thing I've ever heard aside from maybe a really well done classic muscle cars exhaust note (the only difference being a little more turbo then throat). Also, the Evolve exhaust system may cost you a little more, but it is very clean, and very well made. When you take it out of the box its fully finished, bolts on very nicely, and can be tucked up under the car so that you don't see much hanging down (will need to make a custom heat shield though).
Hope that helps
-Chris
*Edit* P.S. The only thing I don't care for with the Evolve Exhaust is their tip, it looks good when the car is moving, but I'm not the biggest fan of it on the car when its sitting still,. Then again, I'm a dual/quad exhaust guy, not a single tip person.

No one makes the SvR exhaust anymore, you'd have to find one used. Also check here for lots of info.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=46924

Hey Dee...if you can wait to make a decision for a few weeks, I'll have my custom exhaust on my R and will post before/after videos of the exhaust note.
A local Columbus, Ohio performance shop http://www.ipsmotorsports.net is making the exhaust for me and their intent is to use mine as a mockup to start producing bolt on exhausts for the R. Not sure of price point yet, but it should be reasonable from what I can tell.
BW

My favorite aftermarket mod is exhaust. i had one for my f150, im gettting one for my dads escalade, and on the R i have an advanced evolve exhaust system with a res delete. after the total of over 1k spent on this cars exhaust i would say get a custom job done with no mufler. might be illegal but will sound bad a$$ and will save u some coin. i think all pre-made systems are too quiet for me. o ya, get it done by a person who you can trust if u have someone install for you

I got a Eurosport exhaust on my car. It is quiet in the cabin during normal driving. When you get on it, you can really hear the exhaust. Outside, it sounds a little louder than stock, but very clean. When you accelerate briskly, it sounds awesome.
It is a step above stock. I bet you could sell your car to the average Joe and they would never know it was aftermarket.
There is NO droning on the highway. I am SO happy with my choice.

No drone, no waking up neighbors, but gets lots of looks and I've had 2 people ask about the R this past week. (my R looks pretty much like a regular S60, so I usually don't get asked about it.)
A friend has an STI w/apexi exhaust - he said it sounded cheesy because it wasn't loud. Well you can hear him coming from 2 miles away and its friggin' retarded IMO. I like to listen to the radio, drive clients to lunch, take my mother to dinner sometimes, etc.... The EST might sound like that if you poke it full of holes....
Anyway, what matters most - the boost and throttle response; MUCH improved with the EST. Noticed it absolutely instantly.
Bottom line, sounds NICE, not LOUD, gives you the sexy pop's when shifting during spirited driving (it popped as I drove off from the install place, they all started clapping. They also were impressed with the quality, fit, look, and sound.)
If you want volume, not for you.

solid thread with sound advice. the EST sounds bout right for me. I'm not a 20yo looking to attract as much attn as possible but the occassional appreciation of avid car fans will do.
my next question is do these after market systems void any warranty or keeps a veh from passing smog tests?

AFAIK, cat-backs don't alter the pollution output at all. DP's are a different story.
Should not void any warranty, except of course for the exhaust itself. Warranty claims can be denied when aftermarket parts can be assumed as the cause. An exhaust can't really cause anything.... alone.

Your dealer would have to prove that the exhaust caused the problem.
This is exhaust can pass for stock during easy driving. I bet you could sell it to an old lady, and she wouldn't notice. If you want a stock appearance, with ultimate driveability...but then a monster when you floor it, EST is for you!
