Does anyone know whats involved with adding cruise control and fog lights to a US spec (I'm assuming base model) C30?

I noticed that you can buy the CC button panel for the steering wheel. Is programming involved?

Are the fog lights as simple as plugging them in?

I saw something on Ebay about VIDA + DICE diagnostic packages. Will these types of packages allow me to program?

All in all, I've been pretty impressed with the build quality on these cars. Its also about the easiest car I've ever worked on.

You need software flashes performed by the dealer. Not very cheap but cruise is definitely worth it. Fog lights need new light control panel, as well as the lights and bezels along with programming. Cruise control just needs the steering wheel controls and programming.

You can do this without dealer. You will need VIDA tools, buy a VIDA subscription ($135 for 3 days) then you will have to buy the software to load in your car. You can go not the VIDA website to see what everything cost as far as software loads and subscriptions. To get the most out of a subscription make sure you have all your programming needs ready to go, I.e. keys, radio upgrades, other Volvos, etc. otherwise it maybe more cost effective to have dealer do it. GlĂĽck.

they make the software for these kind of at purchase options ridiculously expensive because Volvo wants you to add these options at build time. If they made it easy no one would get these options when they bought the car.

Honda capitalized on accessories after the fact and were very successful at it. you can seriously transform a Civic or CR-V with bolt ons after the fact. Volvo stifles you with these software requirements.

Perfect example is the trip computer which is like a $200 option at build time. It is almost $400 after the fact.

Adding Cruise Control to US Spec C30

Question regarding installation of a cruise control (CC) in a 2008 C30 that didn't originally come with CC:

Installing the CC pod on the steering wheel and plugging it in seems relatively straight forward.

Instead of spending the big bucks to have the ECM reprogrammed at the stealership , I'm wondering if swapping in an ECM from a wrecked same year/model/transmission C30 (that was originally equipped with CC) might do the trick. I've seen used ones on line for as little as $35. Does anyone know why that wouldn't work? Are there immobilizers and/or issues I'm not thinking about?

Thanks in advance for any tech knowledge shared with me.
