Does anyone know what factor go into the actual avarage? It is strange because I just made a custom cold air intake for my car (I will soon post pics and that) and my avarage milage seems to have gone down a little. Its currently reading 21.5 mpg. Seems low for a non-turbo. Maybe its just my driving. Whats everyone else getting?

Re: Actual avarage MPG screen reading. (Heimpel)

your average is just what it sounds like: AN AVERAGE of your "instantaneous" MPG which is calculated from the last time it was reset (although i have a hard time believing this based on certain conditions i have experienced, but thats a whole new can of worms)
its probably psychological...you added a cold air intake --> you started driving harder in order to "feel" the effects of the CAI --> you use more fuel doing that --> your average will drop.

In that time, I have gone about 10K miles in mixed driving and am averaging 24 mpg. I plan to drop this average to about 14 mpg once I get my BSR tune uploaded...

people tend to think that you have to sacrifice economy for power. sooooo NOT true.
i remember several years back at a classic car show in downtown lititz, pa, i was talking to a guy who had a '71 nova with a 383 stroker. the thing was nice; he had it tuned properly and during closed-loop highway driving he would average 31 mpg.

I also get places faster and time = money. My daily commute is 90% highway with a 60MPH limit. If I tried to drive economically I would be bored stiff and get 26+ MPG easily. Instead I go WOT all the time, do 20-30MPH over the limit, and I get 17-18MPG, and I also cut my commute time by almost a third. It's worth it, no doubt about it.

I guess I could always just remove the flash if I really had to. Anyway, the relative price of gas is still fairly low compared to many other commodities. You should see the price of some of the juice stock I sell these days! Blueberries are expensive!

of course you can add one...im not sure what parts exactly and what cost $$ it might entail.
seems like the ROI on something like this wouldnt be worth it.
