I got this inventation today. I thought I let the SS 'R' community know in case your intrested.
http://www.sccaudi.com/articles.asp?id=160
I went to the one in Las Vegas a few months ago and it was a lot of fun. This looks like it could be another catch the Volvo if you can event... if you know what I mean. The temps in that area should be in the low 60's to 70's for that time of the year. It's perfect killing weather for the R'.

It would have saved everyone 50.oo. I guess it turned south as soon as I told them I was bringing a bunch of S60 R's.
I haven't got a final word back, but the event page changed today and they've highlighted the "membership required" on the registration form. It's still a great event, and you get monthly notifictions of events in the LA area with the membership.... which there are like 8-10 a month with strong showings. Another event coming up is Techfest at Brembos North American headquarters in Costa Mesa.
http://www.sccaudi.com/article...=2006
So the extra 48.00 for the membership wont go to waist if you want to go to the event.

From my experience at the Vegas event... the first 2 hours of the class is for handling and braking techniques. Slick track training too. The rest of the 2 days is spent on the track or in the class rooms.
The fee also covers lunches and a real nice dinner banquet... with a raffle. Not trying to dampen the cost, but... there is a raffle where they give away buckets of detailing stuff... and Audi parts ...but you could sell the winnings on Ebay and make back some of the money if your lucky.
To me the 350 is worth it... and 400 would be worth it if I didn't have the membership. It's also 2 months away... so there is plenty of time to save.

They give instructors a break for taking on the responsibilities of training... so your asking yourself why are they charging the instructors? Because they are people who belong to the club and want to race their cars when your sitting in the classroom.
Re: (KillerB)

you get 30-40 minutes on the track and an hour off...then back on the track for 30-40...... so on. The cycle repeats itself. The instructors / advance group take a 30 minute run and the medium level take a 30 minute run when your not on the track. It gives you plenty of time to check for problems on your car and do the in classroom instruction.

I had you ride some laps with me to help improve my lap times at the California Speedway event. Mainly because I couldn't get an instructor to ride with me. The problem was that they had 2 instructors for 30 people. Speedventures doesn't even work with you on the basics before getting onto the track.
So now imagine spending and extra 90.00 for an instructor that is paired up with you, and he or she works on improving your driving. Every person at the event has their own instructor. 30 people...30 instructors. The instructor rides with you, and helps you in seeing stuff that you’re not getting down... which is sometimes hard when your all ingrossed in the speed. The instructor also helps you off the track by going over the car... helping you inspect the things that need be.
They also feed you both days and have a real nice dinner one of the nights that include a raffle. Yes... there is typically alcohol at these banquets.
You can't look at the membership...because over time that makes up for something else. So far it's gotten me a trip to Audi's design center in Santa Monica and now the Techfest at Brembo's North American Headquarters and the Kart racing event... for free.
The best part about the membership... told you about this last night... I could have gotten my car in the Electronic Arts - Need For Speed Game, If I only signed up a few months earlier.
