I know there has been numerous postings regarding rear wheel bearings. It appears the problem is a design issue as I alone have had the left rear wheel bearing replaced once and the right rear twice...My XC90 just passed the 50K mark (No more warranty)..<p>Questions for the group..Please tell your wheel bearing story and what recourse do/did you have if the rear wheel bearings go after the warranty period when the issue appears to be a design flaw.... <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vortexmediagroup.com/images/banghead.gif" BORDER="0"> Thanks in advance..

Replaced both rear wheel bearings last week at 64K miles. My recourse: open check book, write check, tear check out, close checkbook, hand over check. End of story. Just hope I don't have to do it again at 125K miles. Design flaws do not necessarily mean a freebie unless it is a safety issue. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/frown.gif" BORDER="0">

<br>You will find that folks in wet/snow climates will have the problems. Dry areas will hardly ever<br>see an issue. One thing that will help is when driving in slush and snow is to try to stay in<br>other tracks to keep the salt and water getting to the bearings to a minimum.<p>Also, if you launch a boat, keep the bearings out of the water.<p>When ours go, I will learn how to replace them myself. Will also investigate if i can find a <br>better bearing that is the same size.

Volvo should feel shame considering they were a spinoff from a bearing company SKF.

Yes, replaced the left bearing at 65K, now replaced the right one at 110K. Also had to have the angle gear replaced in the transmission ($$$), and now the NAV DVD reader has died and the dealer says $1800 just for the drive. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.vwvortex.com/vwbb/eek.gif" BORDER="0"> This puppy is getting expensive.<br>
