Is anyone familiar with Ford's A-plan pricing? My wife likes the Cross Country and we have access to A-Plan pricing through her company. But I can't seem to find any info on the net.
I went to Don Beyer in Sterling, VA and they have a '01 V70 T5, well equipped for $35k, the red one on the show room floor. They said that it was priced better than the A-Plan. Now, I've call the 800 number we have but all they would tell me is that the A-Plan is below invoice. The dealer is suppose to have the A-Plan and X-Plan pricing on their invoice....the dealer didn't show me the "invoice".
I read on one of the Ford SportTrak sites that someone got a $29k SportTrak for $23k using the A-Plan. That seems like a good discount and if we could get something similar off a Volvo we may consider getting one.
Thanks,
Chris
'00 S4
'99 S70 GLT

This would be A-plan pricing and not X-plan? (A-plan is more limited, generally to Ford employees and family).
Ultimately the dealer should show you invoice before you sign, though they might be reluctant to whip it out right away (habit?). I think there is a short 1-page worksheet you follow and it indicates that you fill in the invoice price and that you have seen it.
http://www.fordpartner.com has X-plan info, perhaps A-plan as well.
A Plan used to be invoice less holdback less any rebates. It doesn't surprise me that you can save $6K+ on an Explorer Sport Trac. Remember, the domestics typically have a 3% holdback and generous cash back incentives; especially since the Sport Trac is nearing the end of its current life (after all, it's based on the last Explorer which left 4 years ago).
There is not a lot of markup on Volvo (6-7% usually) and holdback used to be 1%. In any case, the dealer should provide the invoice copy that clearly states the A plan price if you are eligible.
