Today I went to dealer and I saw that there is an airbag under the cover.

I don't want the gauges stick on my face!

What about the center speaker's cover. If I make a fiberglass part and cover it with leather, like the Imprezas?

Do you have any other ideas?

Yea I don't think the gauge in face look is ready to come in style.

That sounds like a good idea to put it in the center speaker I just wonder if you can. I think if the guages were sunk in it would look really nice and part of the original design. http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

This topic has been discussed (at length) before you started becoming involved in the R Fourm. For newcomers, I'd recommend trying the search function (which, admittedly, is poor).

Nevertheless, for your entertainment and perusal, check these out:

Re: (xenophobic)

i've looked into this whole thing..gauge pod and where to put it.. etc etc.

my opinion is that the center speaker is a bad place to put it b/c you have the problem of blocking speaker sound - and I think it would look cluttery.

i think the cleanest, coolest, and best place for gauges in our car is to do what kai did and mount a dual gauge pod up near the sunroof. if you use thin gauges, like defi or blitz DC meters - they are thin, and will fit.

the hard part is getting the pod made. kais was a one off custom job. no one has takent he plunge to invest the money to make a pod and have it mass produced. i looked itno it and i think you're looking at about a $2000 investment - which will get you a run of 50 or so pods. you'd have to sell them all off to even get your money back and make a bit of a profit.

i don't think there are enough people on SS, or the entire R community, that would buy up dual gauge pods to mount in the sunroof...and also pay the money to buy the gauges, sender units, and have them mounted.

it's a neat idea..but the cost/benefit makes it a low priority mod for most R owners. most guys woudl rather spend a couple grand on an ECU and springs...and they're done. a dual pod, with two nice gauges....installed...you're looking at at least $500. mabyea bit more

then, no matter what gauge pod setup you make/sell - there will be some people who don't like it and won't buy it..further cutting into what you can sell..not worth it.

not to rain your parade....i just figure i'll wait for someone with more $$ to do it. like IPD or EVOLVE....then i'll buy ONE.
