Ya'll prolly goin to think im crazy trying to decide between an R and a T5.
I've been car shopping since May and think I settled on the S60. Now if found an R for an amazing price. But I have some questions about upgrades and the AWD tranny.
1. What happens to the active chassis settings when an aftermarket suspension is installed?
2. The AWD split seems to send way more power to the front than the rear is that true?
3. If I don't get this R I'm getting a T5 any thoughts on that?

You can also try the search function.
3. like i said both great cars....few guys on here had t5's and made the move up.... Phuz was one of them and he knows quite a bit on the R

Re: (Copeland)

Yea I realize obviously with 300hp and the higher liter engine the R is better.
I'm just thinking in terms being able to upgrade the R. and the R weighs what 300lbs more with an AWD that isn't truly an AWD if im not mistaken it's nearly all FWD with very little power goin to the Rear wheels.
So it's a question of what I'm paying for which is essentially 50hp which can be remedied (somewhat) by chipping the T5. No? basically thats what im asking.

Yes, you can easily get more HP with a chipped t5 than a stock R...that being said you can easily get more power than a chipped t5 with a chipped R

BTW, because of the haldex setup, when you are crusing in closed-loop (highway cruising for example), you are having ALMOST no torque split to the rear wheels, which of course helps with your MPG rating. the R is rated at a "ehhh" 24mpg, but i recently averaged 29.9mpg going 70-75mph on a 420 mile trip to the beach with 2 passengers.
if you have the $, the R is the way to go.

I'm sure I would have bought the R at the time if my wife would have let me, but now that I have the T5 I think I made the right choice. Will I get an R one day? Of course! But it will be the wagon...
