I'm well prepared for any potential backlash, but my searches came to no avail. I am aware that outside of the US the 850 R came with a manual transmission with a (torsion?) limited slip unit. Did the US model have any such thing in its automatic transmission? I know that is possible to do but can't find any information on if that is the case or not. Looking at buying a nicely modified 850 Turbo but would hold out for an R if it had an LSD. Thanks!

Re: A foolish question. (maine_racer)

My previous '96 850R did not have a LSD. One front wheel loved to spin.

limited slip only came on M59 transmission. Rumor is that the m59 was noticeably weaker than the m56 that came on 850 turbos. Do a manual swap on the 850 turbo with a quaife differential in an M56 tranny.<p>BTW, if you're into 850's, volvospeed is the place to be.
