Reasons to turn it off a few minutes before shut down

By turning the AC OFF it allows the car to dry out before shut down reducing the moisture in the system and reducing the old sock smell

Less strain on the engine at start-up

Always with the kind words, may you need a filter big time

No need to turn off the A/C, because your car takes care of business on its own. The blower automatically comes on 50 minutes after switching off the car and runs for 7 minutes to dry out condensation. The A/C and blower are disengaged during startup. See page 46 of your XC90 manual.

If you READ your owners manual, (or was the slightest bit aware of what you're car does) you would not have posted this

From what I understand, if you are getting a mildew type smell or other "old sock smell", then you have a good chance of having a clogged cabin air filter. Is this true? I've yet to have an issue by leaving the A/C on in any of my cars.
