Hi guys,
Just a question about the radiator. I was replacing the front air dam last night and noticed the brace that bolts the radiator to the frame was broken . I could not tell if this peice was a part of the radiator or a separate peice all together. I didn't think o ftaking a picture until after getting the air dam in place. I was able to use a zip tie to tie the radiator in place untilI can get it fixed. I would rather not have to put in a new one if the bracket can be fixed. Any suggestions???
Also, how hard is it to replace myself? I registered on the Alldatadiy.com site, but the digrams and instructions aren't very good.... I would like to do it myself if possible, but I might not have the necessary tools. Any other good sites that would give step by step instructions???

Thanks
Garn

Re: 99 S70 Radiator (gs1397)

I am not exactly clear on what you think is broken...but there are two bolts that hold the radiator and IC assembly in on the bottom of the "core support" member. The tabs that extend off of the radiator where the bolts go, is this what's broken? Or are you talking about something else.
In any event, the radiator swap is a little time consuming but overall an easy process. I did mine last weekend in under 3 hours, including taking time to repair a broken intercooler. You will need to refill your coolant and top off your oil when done. If you have an auto...then you'll need to add some tranny fluid if you leak too much.
It's a good saturday job...
Cheers,
Prospero

One of the tabs is broken. If your facing the car the tab on the right is broken.
Did you have to put the car on a lift or jacks? Did you have instructions/detailed diagrams, etc on how to do it?
Thanks
GC

Yep, I would replace the radiator. If it goes south on ya...then you're in for a bad day.
It's a decent DIY project, just take your time and be patient. Take a break when you're tired and then continue when you feel better.
Cheers,
Prospero
