I recently picked up a 98 v70 xc with awd with a blown head gasket, possible piston damage and while I'm working on it was wondering if it is possible to make the car more rwd oriented? Main reasons are; from driving my wife's grand am and then v70 I discovered I didn't like the wheels that steer to also be responsible for braking and acceleration. I've also found that giving a rwd car gas in the winter is just way more fun and finally I've noticed most of the major performance brands are rwd so there must be something to it.
So while this may not be rational, is there any way to turn some things around and put more power to the rear wheels? Too bad there isn't more space, particularly in regards to a transmission tunnel, I have a spare b280, matching m46 and a source for a v70 hydraulic clutch pedal and cylinders. Now that could be fun if not impossible.

Re: 98 XC, putting more power to the rear wheels? (derosa)

Nope...It's a viscous coupling in the rear driveline that makes that call.
It's a sealed unit and entirely "Non-Adjustable".
BUT...Come 3-5 inches of fresh snow on hardpack?
Let the 4 wheel drifting begin!
