So I installed a boost gauge yesterday, and I noticed that it only goes up to 5psi and 6psi if I floor it. Anyone know what could be the problem here? How much should it be running. Car always feels like its in a high gear when in first or second.

Should be peaking around 12 psi, check your vacuum lines.

Depends on what gear you're in. If in first, you wouldn't hit the peak at 10-12. I have a 98, same deal. About 5-6 max in first gear. Get on the highway and see what you max out at.

Yeah, a 3rd gear or 4th gear pull up a hill on the freeway will show you what your max boost really is. If it's always 5 or 6 psi, that's a classic symptom of the wastegate not under ecu control, and just running open loop. Usually the TCV or a vacuum line as Avboden said.
