As the title says...my '98 rear armrest doesn't have a cupholder. I know I asked this before but couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for. I seem to remember that it was going to be difficult to swap out for one ('99-'00) that does have a cupholder. I looked at it and it doesn't seem like it would be a big deal. I'm going to go look at my friend's 2000 V70SE and see what/if there are any differences.
My question is...has anybody done this? Is it possible? What's the part number? I would obviously need to get it in my interior color which I assume is called tan. My kid sits in the back in a car seat and it would be nice to have a cupholder back there. right now he just sticks his cup between the car seat and the armrest....which works OK, but not ideal.

There is Sand, Taupe and Oak, 3 different "tans" for 98-00 cars.
I think the 98R's are Oak, (mine is) not sure what your friend has. Look at the numbers next to the paint code on both cars

Re: '98 rear armrest without cupholder...swap for one with cupholder? (JRL)

Just bought a 98 S70 T5 from JRL a couple of weeks ago and discovered that the rear arm rest in this car is also a booster seat! Didn't even know it was an option! My blue 98 has just an arm rest with no cup holder.

I looked at my friend's '00 V70 which has the cupholder but has a different sliding mechanism for the hinge.

Re: '98 rear armrest without cupholder...swap for one with cupholder? (soledoc)

Here's what I found out from parts:
The armrest assemby (based on my trim code of 3866) is 9206913 for $158.90. I may need to also purchase the cupholder assembly separately which is P/N 9206703 for $54.73. then the brackets which I "may" need are P/N 9475692 and P/N 9675484 for $12.93 each.
So my questions stands....can I make the swap? And, do I need the brackets and will the new brackets fit in my assembly?

Soledoc,
Check with the VOLVO Junk Yard up in NY State, I cannot remember the name, but I am sure you can get the whole thing a lot cheaper...
I was looking at getting the double booster seat option from them....
Ciao
