North American spec cars for 1998:
LPT Convertible - Auto Only
HPT Coupe - Manual/Auto
An easy way to distinguish the 98's from the later models is the small Volvo logo located just in front of the doors. European spec 98's and later models have a turn signal light. Also the Volvo badge on the grille is black and silver rather than blue and silver.

Don't trust that all people will tell you the correct engine size, but it's on the timing cover if you look in there. It'll say B5234T or B5244T. The 23 and 24 are the engine size.

Actually I meant, what are the physical differences btw LPT and HPT other than displacement. Such as bore and stroke, head design, piston/rods/crank design, intake etc, etc, etc. I know it's been discussed before, but I never paid much attention, cuz I have a 2.3L HPT....time to start reading / searching
