Hello,

I'm in the process of trying to decide between 2 Volvos. The 740T has 99k ($9k) and the 850T has 74k ($11k). Both are automatics.

In your opinion which would be the better deal. I'm most interested in reliability.

What's your intent for the car. One is FWD one is RWD. Will you be heavily tuning it or just driving it?

Actually, I decided to get a new Mini Cooper. Different car I know, but I thought that if I were to buy an older used car, it should be something good and substantial like a Volvo.

The 850T WOULD have been the better buy because $9K for a 740 is outrageous. It should be a pristine Turbo wagon and have ~50K for that price.

Make sure you don't get overcharged for the MINI. I've heard stories about people paying 20k for a cooper. And that's not for the S variant. I'd get the CooperS too if I were to buy one. My dad might get one for his next car. I dunno why though.

Got my Mini Cooper yesterday. Really love it! Drove up into the Rocky Mountains west of Denver and had a blast. It's very well made and solid. People point and smile.
