I posted this on the IPD board, but Lucky's away and I didn't get any other responses, so ...
For quite a while now the wipers on the '88 240 won't park in the correct place when you turn 'em off. This means that, in order to avoid stopping them in the middle of the windshield, you have to time the "off" switch by hand to stop them where they should. I recently had a look at the wiring diagram and it seems that the intermittent switch relay is wired to the wiper on/off switch, so, then, it looks like if that relay is toast then that's probably the cause of the problem. Can someone confirm this? BTW, the two wiper speeds currently work but not the intermittent. Thanks.
Thanks for the links George. I didn't find anything directly relating to the intermittent wiper relay being the cause of my problem, but there were several mentions of grounding issues with the wiper motor which could be a factor in my case.

This may or may not be of any help... and by this time, you may already have found a solution. BUT... inside of the top cap of the wiper motor, there is a big pair of "points" just like what are in "old tyme" distributors. When those points are adjusted properly, when the current is off to the motor, they are open and then stop in their proper position. I realize that my answer is cryptic, but I hope that it helps, even though that it's been a while since your original post in this subject.
