Purchased this 1987 Volvo 740 GLE new. At 289K miles, the engine is still great with no work done but the frame had major cracks and vehicle has now been retired. Sad to see it go but we have 99 XC and 2003 XC to drive also. Unless Volvo puts a D5 engine in the US XC70, there will be no future Volvo's for us I am sad to say.-Dick
Welcome (back) to Swedespeed, Dick.
Y'all certainly got your money's worth with the 740 - how much $ new?
BTW, what is the son driving now?
As to a Volvo 5-cylinder oil burner - we may not see a USA model until Ford can make money using the engine worldwide.
About six years back you had a coupla questions for Swedespeeders that went unanswered so maybe now we can look again...
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=7215
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=8112
Thanks for doing Volvo and Swedespeed.
George Dill
