So my 855 turbo's A/C is broken again- this time it's diagnosed as needing a new condenser. Quote is for $1100- the majority of it in labor- apparently the dash has to be taken apart (?) Is anyone familiar with this job, and does this estimate seem reasonable?
If so, that's the end of my AC days in the wagon. I can't put $1100 into a feature I don't *have* to have in a 15 year old car with 166K on it....

Re: 855 A/C condenser: $1100? (yuri1419)

That would be your EVAPORATOR and $1100 is VERY cheap.
Most of the time, it costs closer to $1500
They fail in EVERY SINGLE 850/70 series car. A bad design, they rust internally
The condensor is the small AC radiator attached to your regular radiator in front of your car and would be MUCH cheaper to replace

Re: 855 A/C condenser: $1100? (JRL)

Well, drat. No point in shopping around for a competing quote then.
So they *still* haven't fixed it? Even the new 70 series are destined to rust?

Ah. I figured you meant everything that had the V70 name still had that problem, P1 or P2.
