I know of a person that is selling a black 1996 850R with approx. 88K miles on it and is asking $9500 for it, a local Volvo dealer has a red 1998 S70 T-5 with 82K miles on it and is asking $13 for it, I think I may be able to talk him down to $10K. Both are auto tranny and look great the usual wear and tear for their respective ages. Which one would you choose and why ?? Is one more superior to the other as in performance, reliability, etc. ?? Would one be better in resale value over the other one ?? I know that this is the 850 board but this question will also be posted on the S70 board too. Sorry for the NEWBIE question. Thanks for any info. God Bless.

Re: 850R or S70 T-5 ????>>>>>> (JDELUNA)

get the S70 if you will pay only $1k more
it has a smoother ride, and you can mount wider tires, not to mention a less squeaky interior, better styling (IMO) and higher resell value.

Drive both and choose!

It's the only way to decide - the R is much more fun but as the other poster says the T5 70 series is smoother and more easily saleable.
Insurance is also a factor - Rs will cost a lot more to insure than a "standard" T5
