I'm purchasing a 1986 850 T5 Wagon (Canadian) and was wondering if anyone knows whether the passenger front airbag can be temporary disabled, or if there is a sensor in the seat. I have kids that are too big for a car seat but too small for an airbag. Thanks in advance.

NO and No, if you diable the pass side bag the system will see an open during the self test, the light will be on and the entire system will be inop until no faults are detected, the only item in the seat for the SRS is the mechanical trigger for the SIPS bag. Put the kid in the back, do not MESS with the system. Volvo recomends it!
