is the rear seal wearing out or is there a build up of pressure in the crank case because of a clogged vent issue?

Re: 850 rear main oil leak (bmitten)

A clogged breather box is one of the leading causes of a rear main seal gone bad. (Oil has to go somewhere)
When, not if you replace the seal, clean or replace the breather box at the same time.
If it's leaking it's done, need to replace, you cannot "save it"
You really should also replace all the related hoses going to and from that breather box, as mine were not in the best shape. And my beather box wasnt even clogged!
Here's a link to FCPGrotons page that has the oil trap (breather box) for non turbos:
NonTurbo Oil Trap
And here's the link if you have a turbo engine:
Turbo Oil Trap
