My 242Ti (manual) has been running hot while sitting in traffic with temps about 95F. The needle works its way just short of the red zone. The auxilliary fan (behind the gril, in front of the condensor) does not come on with or without the AC running. Where is the sensor that triggers the fan motor? I have checked the fuse and it is fine. Is there a relay that I can check? Are the fan motors prone to failure? BTW, the radiator and condensor is clean and clear of obstructions. Thanks!

Re: 83 240 Turbo-Auxilliary cooling fan inoperable (danst5)

With the key off try a direct power to the fan to check for life.
George Dill

You might also want to check the secondary fan relay, it is located on the drivers side fender under the hood. It is most likely the one towards the rear of the vehicle. This is a pretty common failure part, it will most likely run you about $30 for a new one, be careful with electricalparts such as relays you cannot return them.
Benjamin Florence
