Ok , I just wanted to let yawl know especailly the newbies or those hesitant to modding etc. that my car is 4 1/2 yrs old been modded since day 6 and is going strong. I take care of my car but I sure don't baby the gas pedal.
I'll give you a brief history of my mods, and things I should have done better. (so you can do it right the 1st time)
1st week ... lowering springs . mild 1.3" drop , looks nicer BUT had abnormal inner tire wear for 1 1/2 yrs ... YES , those Vivaperformance adj. rear arms for like $159 DO help!
235 40 18 tires.... some fit (continetal, Falken) some don't (Eagle A/S) didn't want to roll fenders ...so I now play it safe with no larger than 225 40 18.
fall 2005 , BSR stage 3. I'm going on almost 4 yrs /70k miles with this mod. Got a CEL... O2 sensor spacer fixed it. like $13
Typhoon ... K+N claims a 14.61 hp gain (personally I don't feel more than 14.6 ) you'll actually hear your turbo , it sounds nice.
There has been a lot of contriversal about the lack of ECU/battery cooling when having a Typhoon installed. Do we really need that ECU/battery cooling? good question.... Mine has been on for over 3 yrs. 90 F+ in traffic no problems. Don't forget to connect the 2 vacumm hoses and the MAF sensor plug (or you'll get a CEL fast)
Bell intercooler.. a little over a year. easy , 4 hr installation. Take your time trimming the inner front bumper. I cut a tad too much , not noticable to anyone but me. but still wished I did it perfect.
Shift knob... you really have to push down hard then turn to remove. it's easy but if you don't push down enough and just turn it won't come off.

Thanks for the update! I am getting close to 70k due to an excessive amount of road trips this year, running great. I don't have very many performance mods, yet;) but am glad it appears they don't hurt the car when done right.

Re: 80,000 miles ...several mods .. no problems (V50_T5)

Right on. Just checked mine and i got 83k. I checked the carfax the other day and its been 5 years since it was shipped from Belgium. She is still running strong. Most of my mods were done in the last year, other then lowering. But still going strong.

Re: 80,000 miles ...several mods .. no problems (TheDane)

The larger down pipe can throw a CEL . I believe it's P0420 , something about catalic converter efficiency . This spacer puts the o2 sensor further away and fools the computer, so the CEL doesn't come on for the down pipe/cat.
do a search here for "O2 spacer" a lot will come up

That's really comforting to know, as I worry a lot about screwing something up royally. I figured an FMIC would be no problem, but my next stop might be those camber arms after all We'll see about that intake down the road...
Re: 80,000 miles ...several mods .. no problems (kpsingh0)

2006 with 16,000 miles. Highly modded. Only problems are rear fender liners are jacked up and I have a C.E.L for my cat. It's not my daily driver, so I'm not worried about fixing it anytime soon. Love the car

I was looking into the BSR tune Stage 2 or three, so I can't really decide which one I wanted to go with.
Where did you guys get your BSR tunes that is in the US?

Do what I did, buy another car!! 01 Ranger with the 4.0 V6. So awesome. I've put 100 miles on the S40 in the past 2 months, and every miles was fully enjoyed!

I've got a fifty mile commute (two ways) to work. I'd like to Stage two or three the car. But seeing as how it's still my everyday driver for distance I'm not sure if it's worth it. But, if everyone else hasn't had an issue with miles and a tune for reliability and engine/ drive train longevity then I assume it's safe enough with a tune. A turbo kit might be going off the deep end even though it's exactly what I wish I could bring myself to do.
I want an old 740 gle wagon like I used to have and mod the daylights out of it.
