Got 10K on my '05 S60R. Tired of looking at the maintenance reminder. The oil has already been changed in the car twice (Mobile 1, at 1K and 6K) so that's why I haven't taken it in.
When my wife takes he car in for oil change, whatever she happens to be driving, I say NEVER agree to the XXXX mile service. Just have them bring a list of what they would do and how much it costs then I'll highlight what to have done. I can remember when she brought the 10 or 15K service list home from the Ford or Honda dealership (can't remember which one). She also brought the checklist from the oil change. The two lists were virtually identical except for adding some transmission fluid conditioner or flush or some stupid thing. The oil change was $29.95. The 10 or 15K service was $300+. How can they get away with that stuff without having the Attorney General on them?
Anyway. I'm going to have the braided brake lines, titanium shims, and fluid changed out for my brakes at the same time as the oil change. Taking it to Wayne on Beacon Hill here in Seattle as I don't want the dealer having record that I'm using non-original, ATE (Type 200) brake fluid. Plus the dealer service department is EXPENSIVE. I'm sure he can answer this question but I like to be informed beforehand.
Aside from an oil change, is there anything else that needs to be done as far a refuglar service at the 7.5/10K point? Do you have to have proof that EVERYTHING recommended by the manufacturer was actually done to preserve the warranty? I assume it can be any mechanic as long as you have a receipt for the service detailing what was done or do they have to be Volvo certified or something?

http://apps.volvocars.us/owner....html
The manual is your friend.
Also, you do not have to have the maintenance done at a Volvo dealer to not void the warranty. It only has to be done.
Having said that, when was the last time anyone went to a dealer with a stock car and they asked for the service records to that point in order to perform a warranty claim?

as for the diference in the sercices from the first paragraph..... they don't really "do" anyhting other than change the oil but they inspect quite a bit of things and some of the things require some labor intensive activities to get to the parts that are to be inspected.

Re: (R_Rated)

In my massive Volvo experience they only brush oil on the steering stops, and tighten the windshield wipers other than the oil and filter
I would go with an independent that knows Volvo and has the proper filter and crush washer etc
Around here dealers are $100-$110 so unless you need them wow zee wow for the costs

Don't the '05s have free maintenance through the 36,000 mile stop or did that stop with the 2004s?

It stopped with the 06's. I didn't think there was a scheduled 10k service. I know there is at 15k.

The first four 7,500 mile services are covered, provided they occur no earlier than 1,500 miles before the scheduled service mileage.
