OK, my driver's door switch will make the dreaded key chime work but won't activate the dome light. The dome light will work manually but not by the door switch. But the door switch activates the key chime. Where do I need to start looking?
On another note, the p/o of my Gecko 144 disconnected a few things. From what I can gather, the reverse lights are operated by a fused igniton on wire that simply goes to the switch on the transmission. When in reverse, the circuit is completed and the backup lights come on. I see the location in the drive tunnel underneath the car where the two wires should travel...but no wires. I'm assuming these wires are under the carpet but I'll have to pull the seat to get the carpet up. Was there any sort of relay on this circuit? I've not seen one on the schematics. I have no earthlyidea of the logic for ever pulling the wiring back up into the car...but then I've spent the last 7 months undoing and re-doing things that could have been left alone. Oh well!
And....my vintage NOS Allison electronic ignition died a horrible death last Sunday. Died in traffic...by the time I could work my way to the right lane I had lost almost all forward motion. The only drive to pull off into was about a 30 degree grade! The car made it 3/4's off the traveled portion of the road...no way could I push the car up that kind of grade by myself. Since the ignition was shot, I just put her in 1st gear and the starter pulled her right up the hill and into a parking space. I think my 36 year old car was sending me a message...the drive we pulled in to? A Senior Citizen's home!! A wonderful age within we live...a cell phone and AAA and help was on its way. Monday, I went through the entire ignition...the optical reader portion had died! Crap...so now I'm running points again. Oh well, I timed it by ear...gotta be at 25 static at least! Hauls butt w/ a tiny ping at low rpm full throttle. Back to 93 octane from 91, I guess.
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!!
Jon

Good question...I've ad the cover off recently but don't recall a ball bearing type of set up. It's at work so I'll look tomorrow. Seemed like just a lever with contact points but my memory could be false. I'll look tomorrow for sure.
