OK lads, looks like there's been plenty on this in the past.
Simple question, will a 55W kit plug in and work without popping the blown bulb light and
will it not cause any smoke to come up from anything when I turn em on?

will work perfectly fine and it should ..... not trip the bulb out light .
I know it will work but the bulb out light is hit or miss between cars.

hit or miss exactly.
Got a 35W HID with the message supressor adapter... Got some random "bulb failure" messages but nothing major... just have to re-start the car if it appears. Other than that, some bulb warning message flashes...
For heat, the 35W does not heat up the lense that it becomes noticeable.
Would be really interested in knowing if a 55W kit would resolve this minor issue....
For sure a 55W would be brighter (too bright?).

What are you guys using for housings after you install the kits? Are you retrofitting a projector into the current housing?
Re: (harleyvh)

no changes to the headlight itself planned as yet.
if there is a cutoff problem, i'll roll the headlight aiming wheel down!!!
04 factory headlights appear to use the same reflector anyway just different bulb mount for the D2S/D2R OEM HID bulbs and a little plastic cap on the end.
cant hurt to give it a run, cost less than $100 AUD delivered from Hong Kong.
(yet to arrive from last week but will be soon)
karl
