Took my 2004 T6 in for regular 45000 mi. service today and was dismayed to get a call "recommending" an additional $500 in work including coolant flush ($120), transmission flush ($150) and induction service ($150). Sounds like either this still young car is running mighty dirty or the dealer is trying to make month-end numbers.

Anyone else out there with similar "recommendations"? Similar mileage? Did you have the work performed? And if so, at the dealer or elsewhere?

Thanks for the feedback.

Re: 45K Service Headaches - system flushes (Cmint)

My 2004 Volvo owners manual on pg 125: "Normally, coolant doesn't need to be changed".

In the warranty and service records book, on pg62 it states: if the vehicle is used for towing, change the transmission fluid every 52k miles.

Re: 45K Service Headaches - system flushes (doug b)

What is "Induction service"?

I would get tranny flash too, but I'd try to find out how they do it -I do it myself on my 850, and it's very easy to do. I suspect that if your tranny has dipstick, and radiator/cooler lines are easy to remove, then you could do it yourself.
The cost of Dexron III is about 3.50 x 10= $35.00. So they are charging you $115.00/hr labor - too much.
Here in NY it's $105.00/hr.

PS

Om the other hand, if they use Volvo synthetic fluid, the price is very good.
