Re: (Cabot)

Cool car. When I lived in Ireland my friend's dad had one. Nice. Of course my dad had a white 850 T5 wagon with a manual and dark blue interior, so we know who got more attention...

I've never seen one before. It looks good in the pictures. Its like the mid 80's to mid 90's answer to the S40.

Re: (Cabot)

They were quiet popular here in Europe (specific in the Netherlands and Belgium), But buildquality was not good at all (88-92) . From 93-96 they've got the quality issue right. These cars are secondhand very cheap to buy and offer very much compared to similar priced secondhand cars.
So you see very young people driving it because it's cheap and a lot of senior's (very narrow minded, but it isn't exaclty the sexiest car on the planet )
i do have to agree that the '93 facelift made the car look much better, more linked to the rest of the volvo fleet.
There also existed a turbo version with 120 pk ( same engine as the 480 turbo coupe)
The 400 series existed in three versions the 440 (hatchback), the 460 (sedan with trunk) and the 480 (coupe)

It's actually a pretty sharp looking Volvo. The steering wheel is on the correct side too!
Anyone else see the huge resemblence between the 440 and the S40? IDK bout underpinnings, but not bad.
