Swedspeed.com, the online community for Volvo enthusiasts, along with Annapolis Volvo Subaru will be holding a Volvo show & shine next to Annapolis Volvo Subaru on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 333 Busch's Frontage Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401.
Participant registration will begin at 9AM at the show location in the parking lot just between the dealership and the Wawa Convenience Store. Each Participant will be given a ballot to vote for their favorite Volvos on hand. Each car entered will pay a fee of $10, which will be donated 100% to the Annapolis YWCA, and door prizes will be awarded to the winning cars in each class.
Door prizes will be awarded to class winners at 3PM. Winners must be in attendance at 3PM if they wish to receive their prizes.
Also occuring on the same weekend is the Annapolis/Baltimore leg of the Volvo Ocean Race, an exciting sea race around the world sponsored by Volvo.
Attendees can browse through the Annapolis Volvo dealership or go down to Sandy Point State Park and enjoy some of the Volvo Ocean Race festivities, though remember that votes will most likely be cast for cars that are present at the dealership, and thus if you leave in your car during the afternoon, your car might not receive votes from attendees who cast their votes while you are gone.
For more information check out: http://www.swedespeed.com — For up to the minute info on the Volvos by the Bay Event http://www.annapolisvolvo.com — For more info on the location and directions to the event, or call 410.974.4205 http://www.volvooceanrace.org — For more information about the weekend’s Volvo Ocean Race activities.

Sounds good dude. I'm going to wait to do the prizes until later, as you can read above. If people want to head down to Sandy Point then, they can.

Hey George,
I might be a little late, since it takes 4 hours for me to get there. I am going to try my best and wake up at 4:30 in the morning and start my trip. If by accident, I don't show up til 10 or 10:30, is it ok?
[This message has been edited by NJ850N/A (edited 04-19-2002).]

If you don't make it there sharp at 9 AM, we will not give you a spot. J/K~~~
Take your time, dude...it's not that big of deal. We are all going to be there for the whole day, so...take it easy. Waking up that early in the morning is a bit much, though. I'm sure if you leave around 5~5:30 am, you should be able make it to Annapolis right on time if not earlier. Doubt there'll be any traffic at all.

I think we'll be around until 3PM, at least some of us will be, as that's when we're announcing the winners. So don't push too hard in getting down there on time. You may not get as many votes, but we'll be there.

Hey guys and girls(if Cloom decides to join us ), I was able to find an alternative route to reach Annapolis Volvo for this coming weekend event.
As some of you might know, a good section the 495 Beltway isn't exactly low-profile-tire friendly. After some research on the Net, I found a different route to avoid that section of 495. No biggy, probably some of you DC/MD people already know this route, but just in case you don't...let me know.
Hehe...since I had too much time in my hands today, I went on a little road trip there just to make sure these backroads are nice. It was a good cruise; especially, for those who like a good drive through the country roads.
I'm planning to drive down to Annapolis Volvo with few other people from the board. Feel free to come along. For those who are interested to drive with us, email me for a meeting place on Saturday morning.
See you guys there....

I'm up in Gaithersburg, just north of you Kai in Montgomery County. I was planning on taking 108E around to Clarksville to Rt 32E over to I think it is 97 South which hooks up with Rt 50 not too far from Annapolis and Annapolis Volvo. It's a more pleasant drive and because it is more direct, you make up some of the time you lose by taking back roads.

Not sure if that is that much more direct than 495 and 50, but more pleasant to drive.
I know for sure on the way back from the GTG, I will take 495 then New Hampshire Ave exit.
BTW, anyone wants to swing by that Import Eurasia thingy that night? My friend, my cousin, and I will probably go there after we drop off the C70 and the 850 home.

From NJ, come down 95 through Baltimore and then (check Map Quest Here), get on 695 E to 97 South and straight down to Rt 50 E where you'll go a couple of miles and the exit for Annapolis Volvo is there. You'll see it on the right side of the road, but the exit is just before it, so watch for the exit name. If you miss it, you'll have to circle back.
