I'm working on a show n shine, maybe at Annapolis Volvo Subaru. That'd be close. I'm working on getting an answer on this soon, so we can start promoting it on the other sites.

An Events/Gatherings forum was added at the brickboard a couple months ago at my request, so now there's a place to post about this kind of thing. I hope this turns out to be a big event.

I think I can be there. I just got laid-off, and it looks likely I'll be moving into the Philly/Baltimore/DC zone in a few weeks. Wish me luck...

Wow, that blows. Sorry to hear about that. What sort of trade are you in. There are a couple of us up here in DC. We'll help if we can.

I'm an antenna/RF/microwave engineer. I've been in the satellite industry for the last 3 years, and before that I did electronic countermeasures/jamming antennas and radar warning systems for a year. I've done some software stuff too.
Most of the companies I'm hearing from are in the Philly/Baltimore/DC area. I may be able to get a position at my previous employer in Lansdale, PA. I just have to wait and see. If you guys know of anything, I'd appreciate hearing about it - it is kind of an unusual field, though.
I've got a couple of weeks before I go into panic mode - right now I'm taking advantage of the time off and beautiful weather to replace the clutch in my 240. It was 81.5 degrees today!

Know anything in regards of HPAs for 3G celluar tower use?
Any experience in MMDS or LMDS field?
I'm surprised that they would actually lay off RF engineers, you guys are hard to come across these days; especially the experienced and knowledgeable ones.
Don't worry, worst case, they still have Hughs, Lockheed Martin, Comsat around these areas...I'm sure you can find a job easily.

edit b/c of smartarse Michael.
[This message has been edited by The_one_n_only (edited 02-01-2002).]

That just sucks about your job situation, plus having to move. Good luck with the job search.
How's the clutch job? Did you have the flywheel lightened? Did you make it to 250K on the original?

quote:
Originally posted by The_one_n_only:
Don't worry, worst case, they still have Hughs, Lackheed Martin, Comsat around these areas.

You mean Lockheed? My uncle is moving to the area because his wife is going to work for Lockheed Martin.

Yeah, I've got a little LMDS and MMDS experience, but nothing telecom related. I'm sure I'll find something.
Lockheed was talking to me about a position in SoCal - I just don't like the west coast.
Yes Michael - 250K miles on the original clutch! I had the flywheel resurfaced, but not significantly lightened. The B23F has the lightest flywheel of any B2XX motor to begin with.
I just spent the entire day w/the help of my mechanic friend putting the tranny back up. I broke one of the crossmember bolts when I took it out, and two of the other crossmember bolts stripped out. We had to drill out and tap all four holes. I'll finish the job (reconnect driveshaft, clutch cable and shifter) on Monday - I replaced the clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throwout bearing, rear main seal, crank housing gasket, OD gasket, OD sump pan and gasket, backup light switch, clutch cable, and speedo cable seal. I should be good to go for another 19 years/250K miles.
