Hi all,
I'm trying to locate literature that will confirm that I would be able to order a 3rd row on either a V70 or Xc70 for 2009 or 2010. (My local dealer is full of useless a idiot.) I know for certain that the last generation had the 3rd row option, but for the new models I can't seem to confirm that it is still an option.
Anyway, if any one can point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated. Oh, any word on if VCNA is going to bring the V70 T-6 to the US? The rest of the world has it, yet we don't.... go figure.

Re: 3rd Row still available? (PM)

3rd row is no longer available, even as an option. If your local dealer doesn't already know that and can't look through a brochure or make a call to find out... wow.
Lots of posts here about the conspicuous absence of the T6 V70 in the U.S. (some of them by me).

The same guy that was "helping" me with the V70 didn't know what an S60r was either. So in retrospect, the lack of knowledge I guess shouldn't surprise me too much then.

Was this at the Volvo dealer at the Irvine auto center (Power?)? Try OC Volvo at the Santa Ana auto mall a little farther up the 5 at the 55 and Edinger. Knowledgable sales staff and great service dept.

I was pretty disappointed too when I discovered the 3rd row seat was no longer available for the '08. Fellow I dealt with was pretty knowledgeable - he felt there were no plans for bringing it back. Afterall, that's for the "bigger" Volvo's .

Re: (sapearl)

I think what ended up killing the third row option was lack of customer interest and some new DOT safety issues.

Re: (Sweded)

You mean just because that third seat felt like vinyl stretched across plywood and it put the passengers on the bumper of the guy behind you?
I'll admit in my three prior (American) wagons my wife was always just a little bit nervous when kids sat back there. I believe things are only slightly better here in the Midwest, but can appreciate what you are saying .

Quote, originally posted by BarentsBlueV50 »

The only two accidents I've been involved in during the 19 years I'v lived in California have been me being rear ended. I'd think that the fact they were rear facing was a safety issue, more so than the fact they were too close to the rear bumper. All 3rd row seats nowadays face forward like other seats in the car, and many are still just barely past the rear hatch door.

Re: (Lotus99)

Being a child of the '70s, rear facing seats in a station wagon from that era were referred to as the "throw up seats"!
