Re: 3300 miles and got low oil warning (mister2cool)

It's called break in. Are you still on the factory fill at 3300?
I doubt that it goes into limp mode though. Perhaps you're not as "cool" as your screen name suggests? Or, perhaps it was a 3.5 and you were in too high of a gear?

Re: 3300 miles and got low oil warning (MagoonR)

You would know if your car was in limp mode. I believe that your car would not have access to all gears (to save it if there was something wrong). And If you are on factory fill that would be expected(the low oil). You should have the oil changed every 3000 miles untill the 10-15,000 mile marker. And keep an eye on the oil at every fill up. Rick

From the manual:
Break-in Period
Although some oil consumption occurs during normal engine operation, more oil is consumed when the engine is new as the internal parts generate higher friction while wearing-in each other. From the time the engine is new until the first service is performed, the oil consumption could be higher than normal. For this reason, it is especially important to check the oil every time you refuel you car during this period.
It would not cause limp-home mode.

Re: 3300 miles and got low oil warning (Mash)

well, I'v always had problem with my car, seems that the turbo has never worked. So it's going back to the dealer in a week for the 2nd time to fix this problem.
I thought the first oil change isn't until 7500 miles?

was it warm outside? are you SURE it was a 2.5 altima or the 3.5? there is one altima that has almost the same hp as the maxima. i recall running a maxima - it was kind of warm out (bad for me) and we were about dead even. those nissans with the V6 are not slow.
