30,000km / 18,000 mile Service help

3026 Views 8 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  mdms
I am going to bring in my car next week for service and I am wondering what I should expect to be done. Will this be just a simple oil change or a big service? I don't want the dealership to add on services that are extra. I also have other issues that I need to address while I am still under warranty such as wind noise, clutch spring noise when shifting, and remote/power windows intermittent malfunction. Can anybody tell me what price I should pay for the 30,000KM service?

Thanks

Oils, oil filter, fresh air filter, fuel filter and possibly brake pads if worn.
No idea about the price there tho.

Oh you also need to change the timing belt and fuel pump every 4 years or 120k kilometers (might depend on model, mine's a diesel). But if it's the first 30k service, there is no need for this.
Fresh Air filter. Do you mean Cabin Filter? If so I did that replacement last service.

The one located inside the cabin, behind the thorttle pedal (needs to be removed to access the filter).

And that is changed in EVERY service, atleast on my diesel.

The Volvo dealership websites have a little calculator where you put in your model, year and mileage and it tells you what service you need next and what all is included in that service.

Kinda fun

Hi there,

Timing belts and "i guess you mean" water pumps on diesels are changed every 240k or 10 years which ever comes first, at least that's how it is on my 2.0D, if you have the 1.6D then it could be different, idk

Sucks to have a diesel then haha. T5 t-belt service is at like 105 or somethin in that region... not really sure never done one yet lol. Not that many S40's with high miles in our area.

Forgot to add km, it's at 240k km not miles. But i think it would be foolish to wait that long, i would change mine at around 160k km, which is about 100k miles just to be safe, i have a heavy right foot, lol

Then we have completely different service program here in Finland, it's 4 years / 120k (2.0D) here.
