Are there any negatives to adding a 3inch downpipe
to a non chipped s70 t-5? I'm assuming there is no extra stress put on any components. Does the freed up dp lessen the stress on the turbo?
I currently have a 2.5 exhaust from the cat.
Thanks

HI Mike:
I'm getting some quirky looking 16 inch bbs wheels. You can see a pic of them in one of these threads.
Re: 3 INCH DP" (volvos70turbo)

By the way, does any one know what the adverse effects are for running rich? (I will run rich by upgrading the dp to 3" w/out an ecu upgrade)
Thanks

Have you decided who you are going with for the DP? If so, could I inquire about the price? Thanks, Griff

O2 sensor and spark plugs could loose some longevity. You could actually loose power by running too rich.
If all you have done is the exhaust I'm not sure you'd be running rich without an ecu upgrade or some sort of fuel enrichment device. Maybe I missed an earlier thread, if anything you might get on the lean side - you'll be getting the air out quicker but the ecu might not compensate additional fuel quick enough.
Tough to say without getting on the dyno and using an air/fuel meter and testing it. I'd recommend doing a dyno run prior to the dp install and then one after, then you'll know how much power you gained...or lost. AND you can test your current air/fuel ratio vs the addition of the dp.
The combination of a race dp and tweaking my fuel mixture I was able to get an additional 16 hp at the wheels on my VW. Not too shabby for an 18yr old v-dub.
