At less than 20k miles on my RD, I'm not in need of new struts/shocks, but for the future, I'm curious where the damping of these shocks/struts sit in terms of ride firmness, with respect to the stock XC60 and the RD.

Hello Kosmo,

The Bilstein B4's that we offer use both Mono tube and Twin tube technology. Bilstein’s monotube gas charged design allows the excessive heat from the oil to transfer to the outer surface of the shock body and dissipate heat more efficiently. Gas pressure on the dividing piston exerts force on the oil column which prevents aeration (foaming) and viscosity loss. This allows the shock to maintain full damping characteristics under all conditions.

The size of the piston in their monotube setup is the size of one that is usually found in a twin tube setup which is about 228% larger compared to the average conventional setup. When converting to these shocks you should notice greater sensitivity and vehicle control.

Thanks, I will put them on my Christmas list for 2017, when I'll probably have turned about 40,000 miles.

Not very exciting for you guys, I know, but I'm stoked to know I can get quality replacements. I've never been let down by Bilsteins or Konis.
