Alright, just picked up the new 245 yesterday. I negotiated a great deal and so bought it as is. One prob I thought I had (still do) is a temp gauge that doesn't work. However, on the 2hr drive home yesterday, it did work about an hour into the drive, and quit working again not too far from my home.

Either the prob is intermittent, or the gauge works only when the motor/oil is really hot as I was cruising home around 70mph for about an hour and a half.

Any ideas what this could be. Sending unit?

I'd check the wiring, both at the sending unit and on the back of the guage cluster. If I remember right, my ex-roommate had that problem and it was a loose wire at the cluster, BUT his was a '79 264, so your mileage may vary.
