I have recently purchased and got running a 1985 Volvo 244 Turbo, and I want to lower it between 3/4" and 1". Does any body know of a good quality set of lowering springs for these cars. I would like a spring kit or advice of how much to cut the springs to achieve that much lowering as I do not want an adjustable ride height. Help please I have much expirience in repairing these cars but none in modifying them.

Welcome to Swedespeed, Benjamin.
Been jammin' lately?
Where do you execute your Volvo tech skills daily?
You won't believe the huge aftermarket for Volvo 240 mods, repair and maintenance.
Here is a start...
http://www.ipdusa.com/Products...D=629
I ran a '86 245 wagon non-turbo for 245+k and it is still flying around Houston somewhere...
Also, your '85 244 turbo can be upgraded for more hp and longer life on the cheap since you would be doing the labor.
The Dallas area has a hot import car Meet soon (August) and elsewhere on Swedespeed you will find a gentleman looking for comers...
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=61880
The next VCOA Meet in Texas will be this Fall near Houston and we would surely enjoy a few dougnuts from your 244.
George Dill
Temple, Texas, USA
254-541-2199 mobile anytime

Re: 244 Turbo lowering (gdill2)

Thank you George for your reply,
I have found IPD online and I love it, I'm already planning my next mods after the lowering job.
As for where I "Execute my Volvo skills" I currently work at European Import Car Repair in Austin, TX. As for what those skills are my best car is the 240 but I know most of the cars made after that and not many before. I also work on most of the other european cars.
I do plan on modifying the engine for more hp but since I have owned the car for approx 4 months now and I just got it running about 2 weeks ago (purchaced car with leaking head gasket and had to repair before driving) I plan on doing some other mods first.
The VCOA event in Houston is one I plan on attending. I recently joined the VCOA but have not yet paid my dues to the Texas chapter.
Thanks for the info on the meet in Dallas on of my good friends lives up there and would probably be interested in going with me.
Thanks for the info,
Benjamin Florence
