Does anyone know if a 240 R-Sport dash gauge set could be fitted for a '87 240 DL? (as seen below)

If not, is there a way to fit more gauges in the normal 240 DL dash area? I know there is the 3 gauge turbo kit thing that fits in the top slot, but the slot holds my radio deck, so i can't use the 3 gauge turbo kit, and you have the two slots next to the dash, but i want more gauges then two extras....
anyways, if u guys have any ideas/suggestions let me know please

Re: 240 R-Sport Gauge set (gdill2)

That GT/R-Sport cluster only fits the '80 and older dash. It has been put into an '81-'85 style dash with a custom adapter plate to mount it. The problem with putting into an '87 is that you would need to convert to a mechanical speedometer, or have the speedometer head modified with the electronic guts.
'86+ have a pickup on the rear axle for the speedo signal (electronic pulse).
-'85 have a cable that attaches to the transmission.
It's as simple as swapping to a transmission that has a speedometer pickup attachment on it, so you could run a cable up to the speedometer.
Easiest would be to move your radio down to the lower position by the shifter, and install the 3-gauge cluster from a GLT/Turbo. You could also buy an aftermarket gauge pod and mount it on the dash near the a-pillar (that low spot on the dashboard would be perfect). 6 gauges should be enough, right?
