Just at my dealer today, and the mechanic hooked my s60t5/2002 up to the diagnostic system, ie: satellite direct link to volvo.
Apparently the max you can get out of the care is 210Km per hour/about 130mph, before the governor kicks in.
Anyone have any info on this? and how it can be "fixed". Apparent reasoning is it is set that way based on speed rating of tires the car comes with.
thanks for any comments.

I think the only option to get the governer removed at this moment is to order the car through TDS and order it with the "governer removed" option...
There have to be speed corresponding tyres on the car.

(Fairly) regularly hit 140mph in the UK on UK tires so obviously don't have the same restrictor. But then again UK tires are W rated which is up to 168mph.
Out of curiousity, the top speed per the brochures is 155mph which is a speed that many German cars are limited to. Is the 155mph a limiter or is that the max the car will go to? I suspect it's the max as the auto is quoted a couple of mph slower - and if it was an electronic limiter then there'd be no reason for the auto to be slower.
I really must get the car to a German autobahn some day and try it out properly

The manual is limited at 6000 RPM in 5th which gives 265 (165 MPH) on tacho and should be 250 (155)in real.
The limiter is apperantly not in the ECU but in a different module.

I don't know if the AT is limited.

I have run up against the limiter in my T5 around 130mph. My car has the GT. It was pretty disappointing because the car felt like it had much more in it.

I had my (Standard) V70T5 GTL(emon) at ~155 Mph on tacho.

Yikes!
I know my old 850 isn't governed. Brought it up to 225km/h a couple times on an open backroad (not he sanest thing to do I know).
So, in conlusion given a long enough stretch I will beat any S60 with my old non-turbo 850

Wow, thats gotta hurt!

Yeah, but you will need a real long stretch because the S60 will be waiting for you, at 130 mph, tapping his fingers impatiently on the steering wheel!

BTW, getting a non-turbo 850 at 140 mph...hmmm, you must have had quite a bit of a tailwind!

Well, no lie. Thats what what my speedo read. It was still creeping (starts to creep above 180km/h)but accelerating non-the-less. There was still some RPM left on the tack too, I felt enough was enough and I was probably hurting the car so I let off. What is the claimed top speed on these anyway, the speedo goes to 240km/h but I doubt the NA would ever get there no matter how much room. The turbos read 260km/h.
Yeah, I don't think any S60 driver is really going to be jelous of my 850! Thats why I laughed anyway! lol!

I've had my UK V70 T5 at a nudge over 150mph speedo reading, before it hit the speed limiter - the revs were showing 5500rpm at this time and there was a noticeable shud as the car suddenly stopped accelerating.
