2023 Polestar V60/S60 Ordering

We put a deposit down with our local dealer (Portland, Oregon) to build a 2023 V60 Polestar Engineered T8 about 2 months ago. The dealer has been great but the "build" hasnt been accepted by Volvo and it doesn't sound like there is much information on IF it will be accepted. I've also heard some folks that have confirmed 22 builds got pushed to 23 MY and are still awaiting details.

We want to buy this new and get the federal $7500k rebate and we want the longer range that the 22 Extended and 23's have. I'm hoping someone has some news on the 23 polestars but my dealer is starting to think we might not get this car made.

Woah. That's some gouging. If you are interested it might be worth a call to the dealer to see what they will really sell it for versus fantasy.

Beautiful car though. Would look amazing with a light-medium tint.
Just to be clear, all variants of the S60 (including Polestar) still qualify for the $7,500 US tax credit if you take delivery before the end of the year. The V60 became ineligible at the moment the IRA was signed into law on August 16, 2022, due to having final assembly occurring outside of North America.

It's sad how back then we were bargaining for a discount off msrp, now were begging them to sell it just FOR msrp

?
Interesting to see if they get that, though we're unlikely to ever know.
There are more threads on this forum alone about getting one of these cars than there are cars available... And honestly, about half of people we talk to at the dealership who come in for one of these don't even know they're special or performance they just looked up PHEV wagon on the website, the price doesn't phase them. And folks who know they are performance but new to the brand often don't know just how rare they tend to be.

Any markup is just cash down the toilet.
Next year that car is depreciated off of MSRP, just like every other (well 99.999% of them) car on the planet. Anything paid over MSRP is gone forever.
But man, I do like it.

I would just love it if my allocationed order would be accepted from August 1st. Getting sick of waiting. Especially after seeing others with order dates after me already getting delivery dates :(

for volvo there's really no incentives of substance other than loyalty or Costco.
What is the Costco incentive? I looked on their website and the v60 recharge (p*) isn't listed.

I put a deposit in and am waiting for it to get accepted. Is a delivery date scheduled when the order is accepted, or is delivery date a separate confirmation?
As a T8 model, the Polestar is excluded from the Costco rebate.

*To qualify for the Volvo Limited‑Time Special, you must: (1) be a current Costco member on or before September 30, 2022; (2) register with Costco Auto Program online or through its call center to receive a certificate with your unique promotion code; (3) present your certificate and unique promotion code to any authorized Volvo Car USA dealer at time of visit; (4) take delivery between October 1, 2022 and January 3, 2023 of a new and eligible 2022 or 2023 Volvo S60, S90, V60, V90, V60CC, V90CC, XC40, XC60, XC90 to receive a $1,250 Costco member‑only incentive. Excludes all T8 models, XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge. Retired demonstrator and service‑loaner vehicles of these eligible models qualify for the Costco member‑only incentive. The incentive will be applied at time of purchase or lease and is compatible with other eligible Volvo incentives for which the Costco member qualifies under the individual program rules. Program available to US residents only for delivery within the US at an authorized Volvo Car USA retailer only, not available in Puerto Rico, Canada or Mexico. Factory orders are not eligible. Only one (1) promotion code allowed per vehicle. Limit two (2) promotion codes per membership. Incentive is subject to change due to vehicle inventory availability.

Welp, got the news I'd somehow expected but was still dreading. My dealer got an update from Volvo and all their 2023 allocations for the V60 PE have been cancelled due to factory backlog. I am super disappointed.

wow that sucks... sorry to hear. any backup options for you? Maybe order the gas ultimate for now?

No real backup options that I know of. I'd buy the one in Walnut Creek if it weren't white and a crazy markup. There's a couple on the other side of the country, but all silver by the looks of it. Hate to be that picky with a rare car, but it's already probably a little more than I should spend on one, so I'm at least going to get a color I like.
Shipping was around $1,000 to get our S60 shipped from Rhode Island to Texas.

How did that process go? Did the dealer arrange for the shipping? I'm a little wary of that process, only because I've heard it can be tricky and I've never done it.

Is this a common thing? When you say you expected this, is this something I should worry about too? I think I have an allocation for osd but do I need to look for a new car just in case

I can't tell you for sure, but I've been browsing these forums and a few FB groups for months now, and there have been consistent rumblings that many of the allocated V60 PEs wouldn't be fulfilled. So I was cautiously optimistic when my dealer said they had a slot for Q1 2023, but always had in the back of my mind that it might not work out.

I'm debating whether I want to just wait another year or try and find one somewhere in a color I can live with.

We contacted a shipping broker who worked with the actual carrier. Gave them the name of the contact at the dealership. Went about as easy as could be. Delivered to your driveway, or wherever you opt to have it delivered.

can you provide what region/state your dealer is located?

Some of these dealers out there can be just full of ****. They might not even have any allocation to begin with and lied to you to get a deposit to see if they can get one.

I would call around to every dealer closest to you and then expand your radius as you go. There might be unsold units out there.
