2023 Polestar V60/S60 Ordering

We put a deposit down with our local dealer (Portland, Oregon) to build a 2023 V60 Polestar Engineered T8 about 2 months ago. The dealer has been great but the "build" hasnt been accepted by Volvo and it doesn't sound like there is much information on IF it will be accepted. I've also heard some folks that have confirmed 22 builds got pushed to 23 MY and are still awaiting details.

We want to buy this new and get the federal $7500k rebate and we want the longer range that the 22 Extended and 23's have. I'm hoping someone has some news on the 23 polestars but my dealer is starting to think we might not get this car made.

Skiping over the mineral question, any S60 under $55K MSRP should qualify, as long as you still do (modified gross income limit of $150k for individuals, $225k for head of household, and $300k for joint returns). Location of final assembly must be North America, and the S60 is the only Volvo assembled in North America. Parts don't matter, just the location of the minerals in the battery which is 🤷‍♂️ at this point.
Thanks - I'm using the same dealer so there's hope. 😀
James Hicks was our guy. Super easy to work with. James felt confortable that as long as ther was a VIN assigned, he could do a pull ahead delivery at year end that would qualify for the IRS forms. He mentioned that lots of businesses would make that request and the dealership was accustomed to processing those end-of-year pull aheads.

Would be great for you if Texas reinstates the $2500 rebate again on Janurary 7, 2023. If you could wait until after that date, you might get both for a full $10K.

Just an update. I put in an order for a 23 V60 PE back in early August. My dealer emailed me just now saying Volvo accepted the order and they have a dealer delivery ETA of March/April 2023. Pretty exciting. Pricey car though.

Nice!! Compared to what the electrics seem to going for now…the price of the PE doesn’t seem all that bad anymore lol.

what’s the sticker price this year? 71k?
Submitted a request to build V60 September 21 this year. Got confirmation of the build accept yesterday for an April 15-May 15 delivery. Dealer is Boston Volvo. Keep you all posted.

73.2k there abouts. Only for cost options I added was silver dawn paint and the rubber floor mats protection pkg.

My dealer called and informed me that a V60 PSE matching my order has landed in at the Baltimore Port and is available.
He has secured it for me and I should now have it by the end of the month. I have been without a car . . .
Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like it helps with tax breaks though

That's awesome to hear! Yeah, I don't believe the V60T8 qualifies at this stage for anything given its assembled outside of the US.

For what it's worth, two different dealers recently mentioned to me that due to the tax changes recharge models are getting tougher to sell and sitting around longer. One told me they got a low mileage 2022 model as a trade in that they couldn't sell and had to auction. And that the trade value is substantially less than KBB. KBB had my car at 53k (57 sticker). They said realistically 44-45k.

Why does any of thay matter? Might help in trying to negotiate some. But then again it's a V60 POLESTAR speciality so most likely nothing there and they'll sell it quick if you turn it down. But sounds like the car market is shifting some. I'm seeing cars sitting longer. No doubt due to tax changes and higher interest rates and for volvo there's really no incentives of substance other than loyalty or Costco.
I signed up for a price when I got my allocation. I get it, but probably am in not much of a position to expect negotiations. If I were on the other side, I would say no.
I've sent folks to other dealers to try and get them V60s... of the ones out there... the lowest price was $5k over MSRP.. one was $10k over MSRP.... I feel good never charging over MSRP for these cars. Honestly, even in normal times we would sell these at MSRP for the most part. They are ultra rare and more folks want them than what exists every year.

Makes sense.
If anyone's interested, there looks to be an unclaimed 2023 V60 PE at Walnut Creek Volvo (Bay area). I'm going to check it out later, but it's the wrong color for me (white), so I'll keep my order in that I have elsewhere. Unfortunate, but if I'm paying this much for a car, it's going to be the color I want. It'll be nice to actually see it in-person before delivery seeing as these are so rare.

Nice to see it doesn't appear they're marking it over MSRP as well... at least not upfront on the advertised price. Not that it's a whole lot... but they seem to charge the emissions test separate, which I think is a new one for me to notice from someone to move cost off the sale price.

See! Things are softening ever so slightly. The guy ahead of me in v60p* ordering dipped out so I took 1st position and my order was accepted. But I'll admit there's a 95% chance I won't be taking the car in spring since I have the s60 er t8 now. If they made a v60CC or v90cc with the T8, then I'd be harder for me to pass up.

I LOVE that car, so tempting, but that would be a good bit more to finance for me, even with my trade.
But yeah, sign me up for one of those a few years down the road.
So it seems like we're not going to be seeing any S60 PE this year. Anyone else have any S60 PE updates? I placed a deposit down for one all the way back in May and have been told that I'm first in line but still haven't gotten an allocation. So today, I just went ahead and placed an order for an S60 Ultimate instead that my dealer already had on their lot. Delivery of an S60 PE by the year's end just did not seem possible meaning it would no longer qualify for the $7,500 EV credit. Really bummed to be giving up on the Polestar trim but $7,500 was just too much money to let slip away.

There do look to be a handful out, but if you didnt' get a slot, it'll be too late. I see one in Athens Ga that looks like it's on ground now and available, but without a buyers order from before the bill passed, it wouldn't get the tax credit either. the rest are slotted, but all dealer deliveries are after the new year.

Edit... I think they might be okay for this year sale without BOS prior... since they're USA Assembled. We haven't got one and aren't getting one, so I didn't care enough to get focused on that option.

I test drove the white V60 at Walnut Creek, probably my only chance to do so as you just don't see these sitting on lots. Impressions, coming from my 2000... WOW! What a leap in technology. Beautiful car, inside and out. It's quiet, smooth, and the ICE/electric drive is seamless. I was shocked at how I could almost whisper while sitting at a light. Played with the B&W sound system... it blew my socks off. Absolutely phenomenal sound. Definitely lacking a little of the elbow room of the V70, but fine with me as I'll get a roof box for longer trips where I need more space.

If anyone is interested in that car, go talk to Greg. Very nice older sales guy, super down-to-Earth and he practically forced me to test-drive, even though I insisted I had a deal elsewhere and didn't want to waste anyone's time.

Just checked out the v60 at Walnut Creek online.. was considering just buying this one and not waiting for my thunder order slated sometime in 2023. went through some numbers on their website and it looks like they have a $15k mark up 😬

Ooof. Yeah, that'd be a no-go for me. My dealer is asking for a $3K markup (I wiggled them down from 5) which I feel isn't too terrible given everything. 15 is a bit egregious though.
