If anyone's interested, there looks to be an unclaimed 2023 V60 PE at Walnut Creek Volvo (Bay area). I'm going to check it out later, but it's the wrong color for me (white), so I'll keep my order in that I have elsewhere. Unfortunate, but if I'm paying this much for a car, it's going to be the color I want. It'll be nice to actually see it in-person before delivery seeing as these are so rare.

I test drove the white V60 at Walnut Creek, probably my only chance to do so as you just don't see these sitting on lots. Impressions, coming from my 2000... WOW! What a leap in technology. Beautiful car, inside and out. It's quiet, smooth, and the ICE/electric drive is seamless. I was shocked at how I could almost whisper while sitting at a light. Played with the B&W sound system... it blew my socks off. Absolutely phenomenal sound. Definitely lacking a little of the elbow room of the V70, but fine with me as I'll get a roof box for longer trips where I need more space.

If anyone is interested in that car, go talk to Greg. Very nice older sales guy, super down-to-Earth and he practically forced me to test-drive, even though I insisted I had a deal elsewhere and didn't want to waste anyone's time.

Ooof. Yeah, that'd be a no-go for me. My dealer is asking for a $3K markup (I wiggled them down from 5) which I feel isn't too terrible given everything. 15 is a bit egregious though.

Welp, got the news I'd somehow expected but was still dreading. My dealer got an update from Volvo and all their 2023 allocations for the V60 PE have been cancelled due to factory backlog. I am super disappointed.

wow that sucks... sorry to hear. any backup options for you? Maybe order the gas ultimate for now?
No real backup options that I know of. I'd buy the one in Walnut Creek if it weren't white and a crazy markup. There's a couple on the other side of the country, but all silver by the looks of it. Hate to be that picky with a rare car, but it's already probably a little more than I should spend on one, so I'm at least going to get a color I like.

Is this a common thing? When you say you expected this, is this something I should worry about too? I think I have an allocation for osd but do I need to look for a new car just in case
I can't tell you for sure, but I've been browsing these forums and a few FB groups for months now, and there have been consistent rumblings that many of the allocated V60 PEs wouldn't be fulfilled. So I was cautiously optimistic when my dealer said they had a slot for Q1 2023, but always had in the back of my mind that it might not work out.

I'm debating whether I want to just wait another year or try and find one somewhere in a color I can live with.

Some of these dealers out there can be just full of ****. They might not even have any allocation to begin with and lied to you to get a deposit to see if they can get one.

I would call around to every dealer closest to you and then expand your radius as you go. There might be unsold units out there.
I have no reason to believe my particular dealer was shady. They have great reviews and the sales guy assigned to me was genuinely a good dude, great communication and courtesy. He showed me the order sheet and everything. Fully refundable deposit too.

I may have a lead on another one, though I don't think it's been built yet, so it may suffer the same fate as my previous.

Worst comes to worse, I'm not in dire need of a new car, but after test-driving one the other day, it's got me really excited to get one. I'm curious if Volvo will stop selling the V60 in the US at some point though. I wouldn't mind a V90 Recharge, but doubt that's going to happen for now.

When did you put in your initial order? I placed mine Aug 1st with a dealer who apparently had an allocation. But still haven’t received word of scheduled production date. Hoping this isn’t the end for me…

I got my name on the order in early September. However, when he showed me the order details, it had an original order date of June 2022. Wishing you the best of luck. It sucks how difficult it is to know what's going on these days.

Been following this thread for a while given the uncertainty about allocations and orders for this car. I have an order with a dealer in LA that just got approved but I no longer need — Turbovagn, drop me a message (I’m new to the site so apparently can’t send messages yet) and I’ll put you in contact with the dealer if you’re still interested.
I appreciate that very much! However, I may have found an option. I feel bad saying this, because I know there are people who had orders in longer than me, but I sniped an "in-transit" car that hadn't been claimed. ETA is late Dec/early Jan. I spent a LOT of time calling dealers and searching online, and almost gave up and finally found one. It's literally on the other side of the country, which is going to be a pain, but it has a VIN, so it's already made and I don't think I can do any better than that for now.

By chance was it the dealer in Van Nuys (assuming by LA you mean Los Angeles)?

Yep, that’s the dealer. Glad to hear you were able to find one!
That's hilarious! I had talked to that sales guy a few days ago, he seemed super nice. He was gonna let me know if anyone dropped an order, and he actually texted me today about it. I hope someone else can get the V60. They do seem to be trickling in, but very slowly.

Nice! What state did you end up finding it in?

I’m waiting on a silver dawn one myself. Surprisingly now my dealer told me yesterday they are expecting it sometime in January. I was shocked to hear because a few weeks ago they had no idea. Not sure how that works but I’m not complaining lol.

Florida. Legit about as far away as I could go! Debating on whether to have it shipped or fly out and drive it back on an epic cross country drive. I'm not shy of long roads, in fact I tend to crave them, however I'm a little weary of taking a brand new car on mostly all highway cruise miles. I guess I could take the side highways and have some more fun with the Polestar!

I'm leaning towards driving it back. I think I'd just take some side highways to prevent droning on cruise control the entire way. Plus I got lots of friends along the way home to CA. I probably wouldn't spend any on hotels. May try and get some wax or something on it before I do that though.

I just wanted to share the details of my V60 Polestar order. I initially ordered in July of this year, and the order was entered but not allocated/accepted by Volvo. My order was finally accepted on December 23rd and is scheduled for production in early April. It has an early March order lock date; it's a '23 model. Now I just have to decide between White, Thunder and Silver Dawn. Any input appreciated!
I mean, color is highly personal. My opinion: although white looks good on a lot of Volvos, white and silver are very common and not very interesting. Thunder Grey is kind of unique. A bit more on the blue side of gray, but it's highly dependent on the lighting conditions. It can vary between almost a flat dark grey in low light, to a more apparent blue in full light.

As for my V60 situation... hoping to be able to pick it up from the dealer in a month or less!

That sounds about right. The one here in the Bay Area that I test drove sat for almost a month I think, they were also looking for about 10K over. Totally ridiculous... that being said, it did sell.

For anyone still following here... I just want to say, if you're waiting for this car, it's worth the wait.

I just picked up mine in FL and drove it back to CA. 3000+ miles already through heat & humidity, rain, a blizzard, high and low elevation. It just crushes anything you throw at it, full charge or empty.

Happy to answer any questions from my experience so far. There are a couple small things that are annoying, but they seem to be common complaints. I have had 0 issues with AAOS so far though.

I'm not really one for the spotlight or who goes fishing for compliments, but I legit got a positive comment on the car at almost every single gas station stop. It's a damn good looking ride.

Somewhere in Texas another gray V60 rolled past me. They honked and waved. It's a small group of us with these things.

did you drive it through a blizzard with the stock summer tires? that would make me nervous
Yeah, I wasn't thrilled about that, but it worked out. I was very cautious, didn't push it at all, took it very slow, used the AWD mode a lot, and turned off the lane keeping aid. Didn't have any traction issues and luckily the other drivers I encountered were sensible and driving well too. Snow accumulation was maybe about an inch, but I was able to go thru all the previous tire tracks which helped. I tried to adjust my route to avoid the worst of the storm, but my timing was off.

Now that I'm back in CA, I'm gonna probably hang onto the tires thru the summer and then switch them in fall for some proper all-weathers.
