Hi,

I recently picked up a used 2017 XC60 and I noticed that there is a rattling noise that comes from the dashboard when I first turn on the car. It goes away after driving for a bit but I’m worried it is a problem with the AC motor which I know is an annoying, $2k+ fix. Here is a video showing the problem:

Has anyone else had this issue or know what is causing it?

Probably not ac motor, but easy to try just play with the speed of fan. Try to find is there anything under the hood close to windshield, open battery cover as well.

Sounds like the fan bearing to me… they all do that sooner or later - Most of us just learn to live with it after researching the fix (to replace the fan you need a special tool, and you need to take half the car apart to get to it). Some have had success lubricating it with silicone spray, going in from the cowling under the wipers).
